Alacati vision - The Innovative Life-Style – planned to be financed by wind energy income

Izmir has a unique small town situated in the West part of the city in Cesme peninsula called Alacati, 70 km 6 lane highway from Izmir, with a population of about 7,000 people with plenty of empty land. Its population mainly immigrated from Yugoslavia after the 1st World War. Till 1990 it was a silent wacher of the world affairs.

Cesme has about 70-80 ferry and Ro-Ro boats weekly in summer season and less in winter months to Italy, making a bridge between Europe and Turkey. Below in the middle picture you will see the need for nightly ferry connection with 2 boats. Between the 2 most important metropoles of Turkey- Istanbul and Izmir. With 20 million and 12 million populations. Half of the population of Turkey is crowded within 2.5 hours car travel distance around these 2 cities.

Contrary to Turkey the land is limited in Germany for wind energy.

Turkey has 774,000 square km land. 1% of land can be used for wind energy. If we take 10 hectares for 1 wind turbine and 100 hectares for 1 sq.km; theoretically 77,400 wind turbines can be erected in Turkey in the next 20 some years. We can assume 1,500 kW turbines as an average figure.

This can easily be more than 100,000 MW wind energy in other words 100 billions of dollars of wind business alone is waiting for German Turkish businessmen to be created.

By producing them both in Germany and in Turkey we can create employment for 3 million people over the next 20 years.

BUSINESS POTENTIALS BETWEEN BREMEN AND IZMIR

1. Both tourism and around 4 million Turkish origin people living in Europe wishing to see their families in Turkey creates shipping line opportunities. One of the most important income of this shipping business for the next coming years i.e. before Turkey joins EU and even after some years, could be the tax free shopping in boats that connect Italy to Cesme/Izmir. A nice comprehensive catalogue with items to be delivered in the boat and probably paid beforehand when the ticket is reserved during winter months is a very exciting business potential to be tapped.

2. Istanbul – Izmir nightly service. Conference rooms for seminars and other meetings with luxurious cabins will also eliminate hotel expenses for businessmen, Istanbul is the center for money and finance as well as marketing. Rich in history, has extravagant living style for the very wealthy with entertainment and night life. There is no lifestyle suitable for research and development in Istanbul neither the patience. Things are very expensive and distances for commuting makes it very difficult. Whereas Archeologically rich Izmir and its hinterland is much more suitable for production research and development than Istanbul. Larger Izmir metropolitan area with 12 million population has 10 universities and 40 technical schools.

3. Wind energy could be developed jointly with Bremen City and Izmir and its municipalities. Alacati Municipality has in addition to this idea a “High Technology Environmental Park” in 700 hectares and neighboring 20,000 hectars reserved area. Where final touches of the plan is done for “Port Agrilia” by famaous Spoerry architectural firm who built Port Grimaud in South of France.

4. The concept of Technology Innovation Living/Working Life-Style to be completed by the year 2023

Organize to establish around 1,000 Wind Mills, approximately 1,500-2,000 MW installed power capacity to produce 5 billions kWh/year electricity from the wind power. This corresponds to the need of about 1,000,000 homes or 1,500 modern 1,000 bed hotels. In other words nearly equal to the whole yearly consumption of the inner City of Izmir.

Promote to establish 500 MW solar, 100 MW geothermal energy production units supplying energy for the need of the region.

Promote and organize to establish Hydrogen production and storage, initially from the wind later from other methods, to be utilized in the production of electrical energy and fuel for electric cars. The batteries are charged by the fuel cells which converts hydrogen to heat, water and electricity.

Establish flat stepped land underneath the wind mills to grow plants, suitable to survive naturally for earth and climatic factors, such as grapes, almond trees, herbs and others already naturally growing there. The flattened stepped land also stop the rain water washing away the top soil causing erosion at the same time building water reservoir underground.

Promote and probably own a 3 language, K-12 boarding school, with plenty of summer courses arranged in such a way that school graduate will find reasonably good salaries and does not have to go to university immediately after graduation.

Promote life-long education for people "6 years old to 100 years young".

With support and kind permission of the government of Turkey establish 100 lots of land each university in the country to;

build technolgy incubator premises with a capacity of at least 20 projects in each,

Create financial synergy, by diverting scarce money sources available for research to be used jointly with many universities, in this beautiful well prepared region in one room, so to say, first to start and then in the following period to pursue the research in their own campuses

This idea will cause to bring the people together in and out of the country together for a certain research subject. Solving a universally important problem; the problem of making some funds available to each university but normally insufficient to create a critical mass in the brain capacity, equipment etc., therefore synergy to achieve effective results ratioanally.

It is very expensive nearly impossible to make sufficient funds available for each university as we experience all over the world. What we are suggesting is that a good start here in the region, with a flash of an innovative idea, could be initiated, later on could be broken down to smaller pieces and followed up rather inexpensively in their own campuses. Researcher will know each other better, make a work division naturally, create a friendly atmosphere and most of all make the whole country feel like a small technopark.

Due diligence in the co-ordination, approval, evaluation and further funding of course will have to be properly incorporated into the system.

This innovative solution ultimately leads to concentrate national efforts to focus on the selected subjects.

Promote and engage in establishing 10 venture capital firms of national an international experience and connections. To make funds available for start-up's. IPO (initial public offering), is a "sine qua non" for this concept. The region is a well accepted summer resort for the wealthiest of the 12 million Aegean Region people. But "Venture Capital" idea needs promotion by experienced intermediaries.

Promote and co-ordinate establishments of several Government research and development centers to take a place in the region. TUBITAK is the responsible body of the government for leading and co-ordinating the R&D in Turkey.

Allocate small lots of land, around 10 hectars, to each country in the world, irrespective that they are technologically advanced or not. The idea is to create "COLOR" and "VARIETY" in the beautiful region. They will bring their culture or technology or "to be together feeling" into the life of the others.

Promote geriatry(oldER age), research and active living/retiring, ideas.

Istanbul is undefiably the center for finance and marketing BUT NOT for research or development. It is very expensive and even the rich people does not qualify as having a high "quality of life".

Of course there are exceptions; financial and ecomomic academicians working in big banks and companies are exceptions. Also exceptions of a few other subjects, like medicine practice in crowded cities have rewards. For instance in history the people prefered crowded cities like Hierapolis of Denizli-Pamukkale and Asklepion of Bergama. The abundancy of experience of doctors in a big city and to be incognito as a patient must be among the reasons that cause this behavior.

Promote shipping line connections between Istanbul (Yesilkoy) to Izmir (Guzelbahce) nightly boat service with conference rooms and other conveniences for a modern life. The idea is to connect the 2 biggest Metropoles of Turkey together in a very convenient, rational and relaxing manner.

Promote daily ferry boats to Italy. Ferry boats from Cesme to Italy, Ro-Ro boats from Seferihisar to Italy connected by a 30 km. land road from Seferihisar to Guzelbahce where nightly sea passage from Guzelbahce to Yesilkoy Istanbul-to E-5 main highway of Turkey in the East-West direction will be

reached.

Year 2023 is a magical year for every Turkish person to look forward.

As a proud member of Europe where we feel we shall have to account for what we have achieved by that 100th year of the republic.

Last but not least in the program we have a vision for a Nobel Price by the year of 2023. It is the 100.Year of the Republic of Turkey. We owe very much to our leader ATATURK, 1881-1938, who lay the rules and foundations of Modern Turkey of today. We feel it is the obligation of every one of us here in Turkey to work for that mission.

History in 1453 has shown that in Ottoman Empire we have changed the course of the history by hosting a foreign young (Hungarian) engineer who has built the biggest cannon of the world.

Technology has no nationality. Whoever creates a better environment they get the cream of the people to come and live with them.

History was changed again in 1945 next time by USA who opened the doors and arms to the foreign scientists and academicians.

We shall try our best to create the environment to lead to earn at least one ourselves, but if we cannot by the year of 2023 then we shall adopt one. We hope and we need to be able to choose our future success subject other than making the "the biggest gun".

"Peace at home, peace in the world" is the criterion of our leader Atatürk for our Nobel work.
